This style was established to create a type of clear communication for scientific reporting. Scholars around the world write in APA style, making it the standard form for scholarly journals, research studies, and textbooks. The APA style research paper has been around for over 80 years. APA has been updated and improved upon over the years, incorporating new aspects, such as online resource referencing formats. Today we use the sixth edition of the APA writing style.

A good APA style paper example will be double-spaced, typed on standard size paper with 1 inch margins all around, and the font should be New Times Roman, with a size expectation of 12pt. There are four main sections to an APA style paper, the title page, abstract, main body, and references. These papers must also include appropriate use of headings, sub-headings and page headers. Additionally, accurate in-text references and abbreviations are of the utmost importance when writing in this style.
